Each bonsai pot is handmade by a third-generation ceramic artist in Seto, Japan. Every process, from clay blending and kneading to pottery making, glazing, and firing, is done by hand. The artist is the only one in Seto, Japan, who can reproduce the technique used during the Edo period, which is often seen in Ukiyo-e paintings.

BONJIN was created to provide opportunities to freely enjoy your bonsai in your daily life. All products are from Seto-city, Aichi, Japan, and handmade by a ceramic artist specializing in the technique used during the Edo period, as seen in some Ukiyo-e paintings.

In addition to bonsai pots, we also offer handmade kokedama planters. The image of the kokedama bonsai plate is inspired by a Japanese ‘byobu’ folding screen, creating a calming atmosphere even in dimly lit rooms.

Our bonsai pots are made using a special technique called ‘Rusu’, which is only reproduced by the ceramic artist in Seto, Japan. The process is entirely done by hand and takes approximately 2-3 weeks to complete, including drying and firing.
